Day 1 Luang Namtha - Jungle camp

At 9:00 AM we meet at the P Adventure Laos office and take a minivan ride to the start of the trail near Tha Sae village. On the way we stop off briefly at the local Laos market for supplies. From the start of the hike we find ourselves immediately immersed in lush tropical forest, as the trail leads us deeper into the jungle. We continue hiking for 2-3 hours over hills and valleys shaded from the sun by the magnificent jungle canopy.

At lunch time we stop at a perfect spot in the jungle for a well-earned Lao picnic, expertly prepared by our guides using the resources of the surrounding environment. We continue on the trail through a hugely impressive primary forest populated with mighty mahogany trees, bamboo groves and wild banana plants.

After arriving at our campsite we can swim in the river and learn how to cook local foods. Relax, share some food and drinks by the campfire, and later fall asleep in our bamboo lodge to the sounds of the jungle.

Day 2 Jungle camp - Authentic village experience

Wake up in the heart of the jungle to gentle birdsong and a tasty breakfast laid on by our ever-attentive guides. We start walking on the trail at around 9:00 am with a rewarding hike over densely forested hills and across lush valleys. Lunch time – jungle style! Learn from our guides how to find and prepare your own food using the jungle resources.

Watch, learn, and get involved cooking your lunch using authentic jungle techniques. Back on the trail we continue our hike through ancient forests filled with life. Before long we begin a steady descent on a hillside with jaw-dropping views across the valleys of the Nam Ha NPA. Around 4:00 pm, we reach the picturesque and timeless Na Lan village of the Khmu tribe.

Meet the locals and learn about their unique way of life. Here there is another opportunity to take a refreshing dip in the cool river water. A traditional Lao dinner will be served by your Khmu family homestay. After dinner enjoy a traditional Khmu dance performance, which you can also get involved in!

Day 3 Authentic village experience - Luang Namtha

Wake up to the enchanting sounds of the jungle and a delicious authentic Lao breakfast. We then experience more local activities such as rice pounding and using a bamboo crossbow. At approximately 10:00am we begin a 45m-1 hour hike along the serene and scenic Nam Ha river, passing huge trees, bamboo forests and quaint tribal villages.

Upon reaching the cultivated lands surrounding the Namkoy villages, we stop to meet the Lantan people and enjoy a rewarding Lao-style picnic lunch. We return to the jungle trail and hike for 3-4 hours through a pristine primary forest, home to a rich abundance of animal and plant life. The trail takes a gradual to steep inclination, rising to an elevation of 300m.

From a high point with breathtaking views across the Nam Ha NPA the trail makes a steep descent through the forest, eventually reaching NamLue village at approximately 3:30-4:00pm and the end of the trek.
